Approximately 25% of the 24.000.000 tons of pepper produced in the world is produced in China, 12% in Turkey and 9% in Nigeria. Of the 2,700,000 tons of pepper produced annually in Turkey, 60% is classified as Black Pepper, 28% as Bell Pepper, 4% as Charleston Pepper, 8% as Kaypa and others. The largest part of the 2,700,000 tons of pepper produced is produced in Demre, followed by the Blue City and Tarsus-Mersin Region, respectively.
