Of the 2,700,000 tons of pepper produced annually in Turkey, 60% is classified as Black Pepper, 28% as Bell Pepper, 4% as Charleston Pepper, 8% as Kaypa and others. The largest part of the 2,700,000 tons of pepper produced is produced in Demre, followed by the Blue City and Tarsus-Mersin Region, respectively.

PEPPER TYPES

LONG GREEN PEPPER

Turkish Pointed Pepper, which is grown in Mersin-Antalya Region, has moderate bitterness. Its surface is hard, shiny and solid. It has a green stem on its body. The approximate length without stem is around 8-15 cm, and the product diameter varies between 1-3 cm. Green pepper is the most cultivated pepper type in Turkey, and it is divided into many sub-species according to the regions and the period of harvest.

Lobna Biber

Lobna pepper, which has a dark green and shiny outer surface, is grown in Mersin-Antalya Region. Lobna Pepper, one of the hottest pepper types, has a medium thickness and strong structure. This pepper variety, which is slightly thicker and meatier than other peppers, has an average diameter of 2-3.5 cm. Average menstrual weight is 30-50 gr.

Charleston Biber

The Charleston pepper, which is more fleshy, thick-bodied and large in size compared to other types, is grown in Mersin-Antalya Region. It has 2 types of color scales and has a light green and yellowish structure. The stemless stem length is between 10-18 cm and the average diameter is 1.5-3.5 cm. It is a type of sweet pepper.

The ornamental pepper, which has a short and hard structure, has a sharp bitterness. It is grown in Mersin-Antalya Region. Average menstrual weight is 5-25 grams. There are also red types of ornamental peppers, which we are accustomed to seeing mostly green types on the tables. The stemless stem length varies between 5-10 cm, while the diameter is 1-2.5 cm.

İnce Parmak Biber

It is a type of pepper with a long and thin structure. Green and red varieties are grown in our country. Average menstrual weight is between 5-15 gr. The stemless stem length is between 5 and 15 cm. It has medium bitterness.

Macar Dolma

It grows in Kumluca-Finike-Demre districts in the Antalya Region of our country. It is a type of sweet pepper. It has a body length of 6-9 cm.

Macar Çarliston

It is widely grown in Antalya Kumluca-Finike-Demre Region. It has a thick body. It is a type of sweet pepper. The product has a green stem and yellow color structure and has a body length of 14-16 cm. Average menstrual weight is between 30-50 gr. The stem diameter is 4-6 cm, regardless of the stem length.

Acı Dolmalık Biber

Hot Pointed Pepper species, which has a thin and fleshy outer shell, is grown in Gaziantep Region of our country. It has a dark green surface. It is one of the hottest pepper species grown in our country. Average pepper weight varies between 30-45 gr. Body length is 6-9 cm, stem diameter is 5-6 cm.
